After AOL Radio started to make its switch to XM, I am really enjoying Live365 instead - the selection of stations is great and for many stations the music quality seems comparable to "old" AOL radio quality.

One thing I noticed was that for some stations, Live365 posts the name of the next song about a second before the end of the previous one.  This results in the song tag showing the information for the next song, not the current one.

Are there settings I can choose to label the recorded song with song tags a second or two earlier than the very end of the song (when it switches to the next song)?

Okay. I am trying live365 because of the XM incursion into Radio@AOL.

I think part of the problem is that the time is not transimitted to AOMRecord so the software cannot use that as the proper break point. Also, if the song dips down into a "quiet moment" then the recrding will stop and a new one begin with a split mp3 file. And yes, the next song is tagged to the previous song with regard to the naming of the file.  Well, that is a fixable event; simply edit all the song files, provided you write down the name of the first recording since it will not be written.

Oh my! This is what I am doing instead of cleaning the garage which is my husbandly assignment for the day.

Thanks for this suggestion.   I haven't generally experienced the songs breaking in the middle, only the mislabeling problem by the tags for the next song being transmitted a second too early.

Manual relabelling, while always available, would be cumbersome and time consuming - also, I may not have all the tag information to do this, for example I probably won't know the album name.

Thomas, is there a setting or software fix for this, so I can get the song tags a little earlier?

Thomas,

I don't know if you worked on this issue at all, but it seems to be much better in the latest version.  Thank you!

Hi Mark,

That was probably one of the minor changes. But in fact I don't remember right now. Anyway, have you noticed that AOMrecord is now able to record Winamp, too? A lot of interesting stations is available there for free. But one has to find out which ones do have a reasonable pause between the songs to separate them.

Let me know what you think. I'm always happy about feedback.

Have a nice day!

Thomas,

I really enjoy Live365 stations, some of which are of very high quality.

Unfortunately, some stations also prematurely (by a second or two) change the tags, to the tags of the next song before the current song stops.  Since AOM Record seems to pull song information at the end of the song, this makes for errors in the song tags.

One idea that occurs to me is this - would it be possible for AOM Record to pull the song tag information at the _beginning_ of a song, instead of at the _end_?   This probably would fix this situation.

Thank you for considering this,

Mark

Mark,

Can you give me one or more URLs of stations that show this behaviour? I'll make some tests and see what I can do.

Station:  Canuckteach Crooners

Thanks Mark, I'll have a look at it, but it'll take a while.
