I am looking for a synchronising backup program to use on my home system (3 networked PC's all running XP Pro, plus a 500GB SumVision NAS (Network Attached Storage) drive which I intend to hold backups of all data files on the 3 PC's.
I have just started evaluating ECSync, which in most repects meets all my requirements. When used to synchronise backups to another PC drive it works perfectly, but when backing up to the NAS drive the backup goes fine - all the files are copied to the NAS drive, as I can tell using Windows Explorer - but ECSync doesn't see all the files it has just copied (though it does see a few of them). If I try to synchronise the two folders (one on the PC and the other on the NAS drive) it will then go off and re-copy all the files it can't see, even though they are there and haven't changed.
This makes ECSync very time-consuming, as my Data folder contains several GB of files.
I realise the problem may be caused by my network drive, though I am sure it isn't faulty; the data is there, error free and with correct date stamps, and normal Windows Explorer file operations work correctly.
Can anyone suggest a workaround?
