Hi, I use ECSync to backup my documents from my laptop to a mobile hard drive.  This works well except for a small number of files, where I get the following message - Error 5: Access is denied followed by the file name of the source file.

My laptop is running Windows 7 and I use Office 2007.  The files are .xls, .doc and docx.  Recent items on the Start Menu is turned off.

I would be grateful for some help in resolving this issue.

Thanks

Thomas

Probably Office is running and has these files in use.

Hi,

Thanks for that.  The problem relates to only 4 files, 2 Excel spreadsheets and 2 Word documents.  I have checked using Task Manager that no Office applications are running, and have cleared the list of Recent Documents in both apps - but the documents still give me the same error when I try to sync using ECSync.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi,

The list of recent documents has no influence.

I need some more information. Are these files located on the destination or the source drive? What file system do the drives use? Please try to describe as exactly as possible what the environment is and what you did before the synchronization.

Hi Thomas,

I have resolved the problem, thanks.  The problem was on my mobile HDD, the destination for the synchronisation.  All is now working fine.
