Hi Thomas thanks for a great product. I am just wondering is it possible to grab media data from AOL Radio 4.0(not the beta version) or AOL radio within the Winamp application? AOL Radio can be accessed through the latest version of Winamp 5.54. Click the media library tab, and you will find AOL Radio in the left pane. Thanks again.

Hi Thomas,

A few changes have been made to the last.fm site and AOMrecord it seems can no longer grab media data here either.

Regards,
Malachy

OK Malachy, I finally worked out something that gives a solution for your first message with WINAMP (not yet the final solution, but it seems to work ;-)).

Please follow these steps:

- Rename MSIE.ini in AOMrecord's program folder to MSIE.ini.old.
- Download the file http://aomrecord.com/updates/MSIE.ini into the same folder.

Try AOMrecord and let me know if it works.

Thomas

P.S. But this solution does not take over album and cover image. I hope, it's ok this way as well. Please notify here!

Hi Thomas,

The update was successful, recording from AOL Radio within the Winamp application is now possible. I tend to delete album images anyway, so that's not a problem. I use AOMrecord to timeshift radio schedules so I can listen to them later.

Thanks very much for all your hard work.

Malachy.

Thomas,

I made the adjustements and installed WinAmp with the AOL player and added the new MSIE file and it seems to be working. The Media Data is seen and AOMRecord is doing its job.

Once again, thank you for this program and your enthusiastic support.

Thank you for your friendly answer, Sal!

Please recommend AOMrecord to others to give me a chance to keep up my support.

I wrote a small tool for last.fm that you need to launch to take over lastfm's media data. Please try and let me know about your experience.

Do this:

- Rename MSIE.ini in AOMrecord's program folder to MSIE.ini.old.
- Download http://AOMrecord.com/beta/MSIE.ini into this folder.
- Launch http://AOMrecord.com/beta/fm.mini.exe from this address (don't download yet, because it's still in beta state).
- Try AOMrecord and inform me whether it works sufficient or if you need mre or other features.

Short user manual for fm.mini:

- Context menu: Right click
- Move window: Click, move, drag
- Change last.fm user name: Double click
- Info about currently playing song: Move mouse over fm.mini

I tried running this beta software to launch the last.fm window, but I get a script eror as a pop up window. The little white pop-up with last.fm is open but there is nothing playing.

Sal,

When does the error exactly occur?

This app does not launch last.fm. In this case it's just been used as an interface between last.fm and AOMrecord.

I clicked on the link you gave above....then there was a dialog box that says "Do yu want to save this file?"...I click "Run"...then there is a security warning to run from an unknown pulisher, I click OK...then the "Explorer User Prompt" box comes  up in German and English asking me to enter the last.fm user name...I enter it.....there is an immediate Script Error Box....Line:104, Char: 4, Error: 'null' is nul or not an object, Code: 0, URL: file:///C:/Users/sal/AppData/Local/Temp/radA8CD8.tmp.htm  ...then it asks to continue on this page...I click yes....then nothing happens....

Note that at the same time the script error pops up there is a small window that pops up at exactly the same time and it says "fm.mini" in multiple colors. Also, the AOMRecord software recognizes teh window as last.fm as the source, but of course there is no artist because there is nothing palaying.

Sal,

This app does not launch last.fm. In this case it's just been used as an interface between last.fm and AOMrecord. For now you should launch a last.fm player manually.

It looks like fm.mini has a problem reading or writing a temporary file. Can you please verify that a file of a similar name is generated in the corresponding folder when fm.mini is launched? You must be quick for this, because this is file is created and afterwards deleted very quickly.

That fm.mini window is displayed when there is no data available. See what the tool tip tells when you move over the window.

Thomas,

I have played with the sequence a bit with your last note. Now, I opend last.fm first. Then I opened AOMRecord followed by lauching the applet aboev. There is then a prompt for my ID and now when I click OK there is no script error and the tagged informaion show up fine.  When there is a change in the song or artist, it does not change right away, but it eventually changes.

I will now try to record a little.

One thing that is tough though is that the recording volume changes quite a bit between songs..  I use the automatic gain for one song but the volme my drop or increase for the next song. If it increses, I think this is where I get static in teh recording when listening to it later on.

Just an observation.

Sal,

In fact the sequence shouldn't matter. Probably the run time error was a one time thing. The delay is ok. last.fm is asked for the current song every 3 seconds to keep the server load low. That should be frequently enough. Tell me about your experience.

Please keep an eye on that static thing. I cannot imagine that this comes from the loudness adaption. But I'll try it myself. Please keep me up to date with this as well.

I really cannot figure as to why there is static sometimes. I thought it was related to the volume but perhaps not. The volume is interesting though. The height of the graph will lool good after the automatic gain, but then with the next song it may dop to 1/4 height and then maybe later it would be in the red zone.

I will check it out some more and then listen to the mp3's a bit and go from there.

One observation though, it seems the songs are not loaded into a folder with the last.fm recording. I will also look at that.

Sorry, I see the problem with the folders. The Station/Genre is not picked up by AOMRecord from last.fm and so the files are just placed into the Music Folder. I can sort this out without much problem.

Sal,

Download MSIE.ini again and this problem should be gone. Let me know.

Thomas,

I downloaded the new MSIE file and tried it out with last.fm.  The station showed up as last.fm and teh song and artist were correct. The album is correct also.

Very nice! You really know what you are doing.
