Just a trick for anyone in the same situation, that is also experiencing the same problem.
We have in our server 3 network adapters.
1. The primary LAN connection (enabled, IP address 192.168.0.1)
2. The secondary backup LAN connection (disabled, AUTO config IP address 196.***** - can't remember)
3. A Dell DRAC XIII/T Remote Server Management adapter. (Enabled, IP address 192.168.0.30 via DHCP)
The problem seems to be that 3DWatch generates a list of local IP addresses in its ignore list box, but doesn't have the address of the disabled adapter using the auto configuration IP asddress. 3DWatch then fails to get the IP address of the next interface, our PPP adapter (our dial-up connection).
But, if I manually add "196." into the ignore list, then 3DWatch passes over the disbaled adapter, and picks up the IP address of the PPP interface.
Problem solved.
