Update a local Public IP address
« on: September 16, 2009, 10:29:49 »
Hi,

I have a special setup and would like to ask if it is possible to make this configuration on the update client that the local public IP address is sent to the freeDNS service and not the IP of the NAT router in front of it?

The Reason:

Have a special setup on a mobile network. By luck this mobile network uses public IP addresses and I have a server running on a laptop (this is a testsetup for checking user experience) with a HSDPA USB stick modem. Now I want to reach from a iPhone or other PC with USB modem on same network the web server on my laptop. For this I would need to update the freeDNS with my local public IP and not the IP adress of the WAP gateway (what will not forward to me anyway) When I try to access my PC on the mobile network via my IP address all works, it is only to update my IP when my PC gets disconnected and has to logon again on the GPRS network.(on mobile network only port 80 and 443 allow this)

Anyway to hack this on the current version? Assume, when now all this HSDPA modems get cheaper, and cheaper, more people would like this.

Thanks,Wolfgang

Hi Wolfgang,

Sorry, but currently I don't see a chance to implement this change.

Thanks, Anyway, Wolfgang
